Your Scent

Your scent,
caught me unawares,
a working day,
suddenly brightens.
Hope abounds
and visions stir
memories re-awaken
and desire raises
its head again.
The nose betrays
a suppressed desire,
the hours pass slowly
and silence deafens.
It lingers still,
your scent;
a promise to be
or a hope unrealised?
I cling
to a dream
of the shortening hours
to a time…
for us.
