The Bard

I found Love in an unlikely place,
And at an unlikely time in life;
When all was as it should be,
No muss, no fuss, no strife.

It walked up to me boldly,
And looked me in the eye,
Said “Go ahead, and blink
Or welcome me and cry”

She was a “damsel in distress”
And I the listening bard,
With an ear for her troubles,
And poems for her cards.

Love warmed my heart and soul,
And swept me into her arms,
Where I lost my heart again
And enjoyed her many charms

I found love, not when I needed,
But when fate said I should
She’ll love another some day,
But love her, always, I would.
