Longing

I came across a flower
that bloomed beneath the moon,
and remembered our kiss
that ended all too soon.

I watched it unfold
each petal, one by one
yet it would withdraw itself
with the rising of the sun

I thought then, that the kiss
was neither long nor short,
but perfect in duration
and nothing would it thwart.

It was all that it should be,
all that I could want;
nothing will ever match
that kiss that taunts… and taunts.

Like the moonlit flower bloomed
so too, that perfect kiss;
Your lips shall I always
always… always miss.
