Untitled – 29122014

A single gift each year is wrapped
and placed upon the rug,
the tag inscribed “Love always,
kisses and a hug”

It sits alone all season
until the night of twelve,
then it’s unwrapped and placed upon
the growing Memory shelf

Four and ten have now been placed,
each marks a moment in time,
when I’d look upon your face and say
“You, my love, are mine”

Like the dawn chasing the night,
you leave, not to return
until another year has passed,
leaving me to yearn.
