I am…

I am
the darkness in the abyss,
the point of light in the sun.
I am
the feeling that you’ll miss
when feelings are undone.

I am
the void in the silence,
the scream in the noisy mob.
I am
the rich man’s dream,
the beggar that you rob.

I am
a drop in the ocean,
the grain in the sandstorm.
I am
the cold hard love
that wants to keep you warm.

Look at me

Look at me,
don’t just see
my eyes that see you,
but beyond, into my soul
where I desperately need you.

Look at me,
see my lips
that long to kiss you,
taste your essence, your all
the sweet, the bitter, all you.

Look at me,
at my face,
and know that its true,
that in my heart is a hole
that’s a fit for only you.

drought

Where did the world go, in the blink of an eye?
Why do I stand alone on the plains?
Why is there no one around to hear my cry?
I’m dry, parched, in need of the rain.

Why is there only one single heart beating?
why aren’t there any clouds in the sky?
Where is my love, I’m alone, kneeling…
No water in sight, but that from my eyes.

Shhh!

Shhh!
These lips are for but one person,
the light in my eyes, his alone;
these ears they yearn
for his voice on the phone

Shhh!
The flash of colour in my hair,
a distraction for all to see,
my thoughts, my warmth I keep for him,
when I perch myself upon his knee.

Shhh!
Tell me not of my outward beauty,
that, everyone can plainly see;
He doesn’t want what everyone can have…
He simply desires who I am, simply me…

Without you

Without you
the world turns,
the tides rise and fall.
In the east,
the sun rises,
in forests, birds call.

Without you
trees still grow,
and birds flitter about.
On the streets
traffic runs,
and horns do flout.

Without you
movies are made,
pretenders to love.
On-screen kiss,
scripted passions,
not what life’s made of.

Without you
stars still shine,
on lovers who stare.
Amidst wars
peace is found
in a friend’s care.

Without you
my heart beats,
the rhythm’s the same,
And my soul,
indelibly marked
with your true name.

Without you
life goes on,
night follows day,
but with you,
in your arms
I’d rather have stayed.
